About the Author

Shane ONeil
Shane KP O'Neill is the writer of The Dracula Chronicles, a new and exciting series adding a fresh dimension to the Dracula legend, which combines the real historical Vlad Dracula with a new and different version of Dracula the vampire. He has released the series in two arcs, one that follows Dracula the man and the other following Dracula the vampire.

The author developed a fascination with Dracula from an early age. Like many others he was enthralled by Christopher Lee's portrayal of him on the big screen. It was in his late teens that he discovered Dracula the man and the love affair began from there. An avid lover of history, he studied the period in which the real historical Vlad Dracula lived, 15th Century Balkan, for many years. It followed from there then that with his love of writing he would always choose Dracula as his subject. He built a concept and premise where he could accommodate both Dracula the vampire and Dracula the man.

Away from writing, the author has a wide range of interests. He reads a lot of books from a wide variety of authors, hough his main interest lies in the horror genre. His love of books is matched only by his love of the countryside and of course, his family. As an added note, he has lived and travelled all over the world. He has a love for all things historical, with a particular fascination for medieval Europe. Anywhere he travels, he likes to search out locations with an historical interest and will always hunt for the ruins of an old castle before heading to the beach.

The-Long-Way-Down-Ebook-2

THE LONG WAY DOWN by Craig Schaefer
 Release Date: 2014

The death of a porn star leads sorcerer Daniel Faust down a rabbit hole of conspiracy and madness. For the first time, black magic and bullets might not be enough to save him from the brink of damnation.

~Synopsis ~

Nobody knows the seedy underbelly of Las Vegas like Daniel Faust, a sorcerer for hire and ex-gangster who uses black magic and bullets to solve his clients' problems. When an old man comes seeking vengeance for his murdered granddaughter, what looks like a simple job quickly spirals out of control.

Soon Daniel stands in the crossfire between a murderous porn director; a corrupt cop with a quick trigger finger; and his own former employer, a racket boss who isn't entirely human. T hen there's Caitlin: brilliant, beautiful, and the lethal right hand of a demon prince.

A man named Faust should know what happens when you rub shoulders with demons. Still Daniel can't resist being drawn to Caitlin's flame as they race to unlock the secret of the Etruscan Box, a relic that people all over town are dying -- and killing -- to get their hands on. As the bodies drop and the double-crosses pile up, Daniel will need every shred of his wits, courage and sheer ruthlessness just to survive.

Daniel Faust knew he was standing with one foot over the brink of hell. He's about to find out just how far he can fall.

About the Author

Schaefer+Bio
By the time he was four years old, Craig Schaefer knew he wanted to be a writer. He also wanted to be an astronaut, a private eye, and a fire truck, so nobody paid much attention. Other passions came and went with age, but the love of writing remained. He cut his teeth on the crime thrillers of Elmore Leonard and Richard Stark, which may explain a thing or two about the person he is today.\

Exploring other genres he soon latched onto horror and weird fiction, falling hard for the worlds of Clive Barker and H.P. Lovecraft. The books of the Daniel Faust series are written in honor of all the writers who shaped him, blending gangsters, guns and black magic in a manner not unlike, he hopes, chocolate and peanut butter.
Research for the Faust novels has led Craig down some curious alleys -- sometimes literally -- and to conversations with interesting and occasionally frightening people. His reference bookshelf, stocked with tomes covering the spectrum from criminology to demonology, has been variously described as "disturbing," "a bit eccentric," and "the reason I'm not dating that guy anymore."

While he considers Las Vegas his second home and visits every chance he gets, Craig presently lives in Joliet, Illinois, the home of the Blues Brothers. He dwells in what was once a turn of the century convent, though he has never seen the alleged (and obligatory) ghostly nuns. The pipes do rattle in the night, though, and if you're standing in just the right spot, they sound like the pitter-patter of children's feet rushing by on the floor just above you.

When he's not behind the keyboard, he can be found visiting Chicago's historic museums, haunting libraries for inspiration, and spending too much time gaming while he should be writing. He also dabbles in sleight of hand, though unlike Daniel Faust, he's not very good at it.

My Top Five Favorite Vampire Books/Series

A Guest Post by Margo Bond Collins

  1. The Coldest Girl in Coldtown by Holly Black http://www.amazon.com/Coldest-Girl-Coldtown-Holly-Black-ebook/dp/B00BAXFB3C/
I loved Black’s short story of the same name and was initially a little disappointed to discover that the novel was not, in fact, a continuation of the same story but rather a new story set in the same world. But that disappointment quickly disappeared as Black’s novel drew me in. The vampires here are horrifying—and being the single (potential) exception to that rule makes the love-interest vampire equally terrifying and attractive, adding up to the kind of vicarious adrenaline rush that draws me to vampire tales in the first place.

  1. Sunshine by Robin McKinley http://www.amazon.com/Sunshine-Robin-McKinley/dp/0515138819/
I re-read this book every year or two—I just finished the latest re-reading in November. McKinley does a beautiful job of setting up a world that is almost, but not exactly, like our own. The eponymous protagonist almost seems to ramble sometimes, but the voice is perfectly her own and the things she reveals about herself are beautifully woven back into the plot. Also, the vampires are creepy as all get-out!

  1. Quiver by Holly Luhning http://www.amazon.com/Quiver-Holly-Luhning-ebook/dp/B005BTJUHE/
Unlike most of the books I read, Quiver is not speculative fiction. It’s a psychological thriller about obsession—specifically, obsession with Elizabeth Bathory, the psychotic sixteenth-century Hungarian countess who bathed in the blood of her (many!) victims in an attempt to make herself younger. Luhning’s depiction of a dissatisfied academic pulled further into a world of horror and intrigue is both compelling and unsettling. So this isn’t really a “vampire” novel in the strictest sense—but it draws on vampire mythology in interesting ways.

  1. Guilty Pleasures (Anita Blake, Book 1) by Laurell K. Hamilton http://www.amazon.com/Guilty-Pleasures-Laurell-K-Hamilton-ebook/dp/B0030MTPU6/
This was probably the first book I ever heard called a “urban fantasy”—though the term Hamilton used for it was “paranormal mystery.” In the early novels of this series, Anita Blake, is based more on the gritty noir detective than the romance heroine. Though the series shifts toward the erotic later, the early novels are still among my favorite paranormal mysteries/urban fantasies.

  1. Skinwalker (Jane Yellowrock, Book 1) by Faith Hunter http://www.amazon.com/Skinwalker-Jane-Yellowrock-Book-1-ebook/dp/B002AU7MSG/
This series has landed on my favorite vampires and my favorite shapeshifters lists. I’m a fan of shapeshifter novels in general, and of this series in particular. I like Hunter’s twist on the shapeshifter standards—in these novels, Jane shares her body and her consciousness with a big cat she calls Beast. Watching the two of them negotiating their shared life is almost as much fun as watching them work through whatever mysteries and problems come their way because of Jane’s job as bodyguard to vampires.

Dark Love

Dark Love

How far would you b willing to go for love? If you met someone online, who you knew in your heart and soul was the one for you. Someone you knew could fulfill your darkest desires, please you and keep you satisfied. Someone who knew exactly what u need. Would you travel across oceans to be with that person. Or would you be willing to live your life with what if?

I'm a dominant woman who needs an Alpha male. As with all aspects about me, there is no true category. I need a man who is man enough to handle me. Not a push over too afraid to even approach me because I'm too "intimidating". So far, the only men who have come close are in other continents.

But one, dear Goddess, he is more than just close. He is my other half. In exquisite dark detail, he has described everything I need, my every want, and not just in the bedroom. I feel my heart longing for him, my soul gravitating towards him. My body aches with need of him, my heart yearns to be with him. When I lay my head down to sleep I can feel his arms wrapped around me in a strong embrace, feel my face resting upon his chest. I can envision our children fighting, laughing, playing and loving one another. I can almost feel him pushing so deeply inside of me that I don't know where either of us begins or ends. Can feel the sweat of our bodies mingle as we take each other to an ecstasy that knows no bounds.

But, what if? What if I'm wrong? What if our fantasy is too good to b a true reality? What if I'm fooling myself in thinking he's as real as I need him to b? What if this is nothing more than a dream that I need to believe in this life of a nightmare that I am living now? What if, as with everyone who is supposed to love me, my blood kin, when we finally meet he feels that I am not worth his love, that I don't need it? What if this is all just an elaborate game to him and he just wants to see how far it will go?

But, what if I'm right? What if this is real and I find myself too afraid to make that leap of faith? What if I do take that chance and find him waiting for me with open arms, longing for me, needing me as I need him? What if with him, my home of my heart awaits?

Shall I take that leep? Or shall I spend my life wondering, what if? Would you?

The answer is yes. The only real love is one your willing to fight for, sacrifice for. My Dark Knight awaits. And have mercy on any soul that stands in our way.

Review -

Took me quite a while to write this review, mainly because I had quite a bit of conflicting emotions in regards to the story-line. Did I not like it due to the fact that I did not read Book 1, Dark Paradise? Or did I just really not like the plot, or was it just the main character? While this book was very well written, descriptions were dead on and the author did know much of comings and goings in the Vodoun world, the plot in itself could use a little more help. Not to mention the main character could use a definite reality check and grow up. "With great power, comes great responsibilities." That saying is true with more than just super heroes. When you wield magic as powerful as what Mala LaCroix holds within her very soul, one cannot just dabble into it, begin a drastic spell, then stop in the middle and say, "Oh, never mind", especially when dealing with other people's souls.

Mala LaCroix is the last living LaCroix, a family of extremely powerful Voodoo Queens. As such she is next in line to the thrown when her Great Aunt passes on to the other side. An aunt whom she has promised to be an apprentice to, and learn how to wield her dark art. But when the time comes she is less than enthused. But with enemies from both sides of the grave out to kill her, maybe going with dear old Auntie isn't such a bad idea.

Landry Prince has escaped the hands of death once again. Only this time, he hasn't come back alone. There is a demon living beneath his skin, devouring his soul with every breath he takes. And the only one he can rely on to rid himself of the demon in the Voodoo Queen herself, Magnolia. The question in that scenario, at what lengths will she go? And how can he keep Mayla safe when he can barely even trust himself?

When the action and magic happen, they do indeed make an impression. Too bad there isn't enough of the good to outweigh the bad. And the supposed 'bad' characters are the ones who keep to story flowing. Just as Magnolia tried to explain to her bullheaded niece, there is no such thing as black magic, either the wielder has a black soul or a light one. The decisions you make and the reasons behind them are all that truly matter. Anyone who practices voodoo, or has any roots in the craft, art or religion, may want to skip this read, because what Mayla does in the end will make you want to make a special little doll with her name on it. This book reads more like a Y/A than a N/A, if not for the sex. The characters are not really at the maturity of someone in the twenties, more like teenagers who still don't know which way is up. With some tweaks, this series does carry a lot of potential. As it stands now... This book cannot be read as a stand-alone, too much needed information is lost without having read the first book.

Accidentally Yours Book 2
Re-Published March 5, 2013 by Forever
5 Bloody Fangs

"Dark humor, dark love and action packed with a good dose of violence, what more could a girl ask for?"

Synopsis -

“If you love her, set her free. If she comes back, she’s yours. If she doesn’t…Christ! Stubborn woman! Hunt her down, and bring her the hell back; she’s still yours according to vampire law.”
- Niccolo DiConti, General of the Vampire Queen’s Army.

THE DETERMINED VAMPIRE: Niccolo DiConti has faithfully served as leader of Her Majesty’s army for over a millennium, but he’d rather sunbathe in the Sahara than spend another grueling day under his demented queen’s command. However, no one has ever left her side and lived to tell. So when a powerful goddess prophesies he will meet his salvation—a human woman he must turn into a vampire with her consent—he eagerly rises to the challenge. After all, how hard could it be to seduce a human female into taking the immortal plunge? Harder than he thinks. Because his mate won’t be born for another three centuries, and when he wakes up in the goddess’ tomb, not only is his life a mess, but his destined female isn’t about to settle for a coldhearted vampire. Can he win her over before it’s too late? Not if his enemies have anything to do with it.

AN UNWILLING BRIDE: On the night Helena Strauss meets the fierce, devastatingly handsome vampire who saves her life in the jungles of Mexico, she knows her world will be forever changed. Because an attraction this mind blowing only comes along once in a lifetime—or existence. And when he claims she is his one true mate, destined to be his for all eternity, it’s a fairytale come true. So what if her knight in shining armor is a vampire? Nobody’s perfect. But discovering the powerful, overbearing immortal doesn’t “do love”? Deal breaker. Helena will flee and set out to accomplish the impossible…sever the otherworldly bond between them. And it turns out, Helena is just the leverage Niccolo’s enemies need to break the mighty warrior and wipe out his people.  (Goodreads)

Review -

If Krestley Cole and Kerrelyn Sparks had a love child, her name would be Mimi Jean Pamfiloff.  When sitting down to read any book in the Accidentally Yours Series, be prepared to laugh, cry, cringe and lose a good nights sleep.  Accidentally Married to...a Vampire will take readers on an emotional roller coaster ride that all Paranormal lovers are sure to enjoy.

Cimil, a Goddess who would make Nucking Futs Nix proud, is still up to her old tricks when a vampire, Niccolo Diconti, comes seeking her help.  Instead of just giving him straight forward advice (I mean, really, where is the fun in that?) she gives him the advice he "needs".  And knowing that he will not survive the 300 years it will take for his salvation to even be born, she knocks him out, for 300 years.  While he's sleeping she gifts him with a lil surprise.

Niccolo is more than sure he will have no trouble at all doing as Cimil has told him, after-all, as gorgeous as he is it can't be too hard to seduce his mate.  After living for thirteen centuries, surviving countless battles, leading the Vampire Army, earning the name of the Executioner, it seems winning over his Vampire Bride may be the hardest challenge he has ever faced.  Because when it comes to matters of the heart he is completely clueless, especially since he never realized how much trust played into the equation.  Trust is very hard to build when you have been forbade to reveal the secrets of your world.  It is even harder when the person you are trying desperately to avoid any and all questions from just happens to be a scientist.  His heated and passionate kisses can only hold her off of demanding answers for so long.

Helena is willing to except the fact that not only is Niccolo a vampire, seeing as she is a scientists whom studies things of the unnatural variety it isn't exactly that far stretched for her, and even the fact that he cannot reveal any secrets of his world until she has been transformed.  But, when he tells vampires are unable to love, she wants out, and she doesn't just sit around twiddling her thumbs but takes matters into her own hands and escapes her penthouse prison.  Which takes her on the adventure of a lifetime; running across a drop dead scrumptious looking Demilord with plans of his own, a bar full of leather-clad men with the same sexual preferences as her own, and face to face with the sadistic Vampire Queen that is the ultimate proof of how dangerous it can be for a vampires mate to be human.

Unpredictability at its best, readers will be guessing as to what will happen from one page to the next and won't experience even one dull moment.  A true must read for Paranormal and PNR lovers everywhere.

Guest Post and Excerpt by Author Lisa Beth Darling

Guest Post by Lisa Beth Darling

Author of the Of War Series

Why the Greeks?

It often surprises people when I tell them that Ares and Aphrodite aren't just characters in my books they are my Heavenly Mother and Father. Quite literally, for you astrologists out there, I am a Libra with Ares Rising so one could call it fate that they are my Patrons and Characters in My Head.  Yes, you could call it that, all I really know is that I feel as close to them as I do to any living creature—probably even a bit more so.  That can present some very interesting challenges when writing about them as characters. Especially the way I do it. Yes, sometimes I do worry about getting a lightning bolt or fireball in an unpleasant place but, all in all, we just consider it good fun.

Let me explain a bit further so you can understand what would make a little Scots/English/Irish girl like yours truly write about the ancient Greek Gods. Why she would adopt such odd and old pagan ways.
I grew up Roman Catholic and Baptist. (Yes, you read that right.) Up until my senior year of school I was only vague aware that there were any other Gods outside the Holy Trinity. I'd heard of ancient Egyptian 'gods' and old Norse 'gods' they were always treated in an off-handed manner. No respect.  So I never gave them much thought. It was in the 12th grade that my English teacher, Mr. DePeter, totally blew my mind when he gave us the Greek plays and tragedies as assigned reading.

I truly felt as though I'd 'come home' in a spiritual manner. It was as though some big piece of me that I didn't even know was missing was suddenly filled in for me. My life began to 'click' and to make sense to me. I found the ancient Greek Gods completely fascinating and intriguing. I couldn't get enough.  I read all I could and in the course of that rediscovered other pantheons in books that respected them and didn't treat them as sort of Second Class Citizens.

Yes the Celtic one did call to me and I do write about it often. I use a lot of the old Celtic ways on my spiritual path it is a rich and very eclectic.  It's my path and it makes me happy it makes me strong, confident, and peaceful. I write about them to honor them, to keep them 'alive' in some small way, to keep the connection between us vibrant so that my soul stays fulfilled.

Excerpt (For Adult Eyes Only)-

Ares' hips moved upward in a meaningful stroke, he pierced through her body penetrating deep into her snug walls slick with waiting, making her flinch, making her cringe and shudder. She shrank away from him a moment. The hand cupping her bottom went to her jaw to hold it firmly, "You fear me?  Your Lover?"

There was no flinching or hesitation, "Never."

As she slumped against him, sliding further down on him, Ares dark eyes rolled back in his head until only the whites showed below his fluttering lids. For a second his knees threatened to give out he began sinking to floor.  Letting go of her wrists pinned above her head he expected her arms to fall limp at her sides but they didn't they wrapped around him filling him with a new strength as they raked across his back and called to his wild nature.  Feeling the fire explode to a full grown inferno, Ares stood up again planting his hand on her ass, the palm encircling her jaw eased over her chin, caressed her neck, just before it clamped around her throat as his lips closed down over hers, he felt it work hard as his tongue invaded her mouth, cutting off her air.  The legs around his waist squeezed, the wet walls suckling his cock swelled, and instead of fighting for precious air she kept her legs locked tight, using her thighs to pump up and down on him, to grind against him and welcome him home.

For what seemed forever, lost in the velvet embrace of pleasure, Ares forgot himself.  It was easy given her enthusiastic reception.  He bent deeply at the knees, surging upward time and again with a quickening pace that she did not deny but encouraged with rocking grinding hips and her talented tongue.  With the intoxicating scents of musk, honeysuckle, and the deep green of the forest filling the air, he reached down to plant his forearm under her for her ass to rest upon.  He found the soft flesh slick with the oil of their lovemaking, so he gripped the cold rock for better purchase.

Liking her new perch, Alena kept going, she kept grinding and writhing, taking all of him inside as she moaned with the bliss of passion.  The sweet sound echoing in his head making it even lighter, until he thought he'd float away with rest of the world and all of its cares.

The Revelation Review

The Revelation by Jennifer Raygoza
The Guardians Book 2
Published October 24, 2013
5 BLOODY FANGS!

"What's more dangerous than standing between a Mother and her child?  Standing between  a Vampire Mother and her child."

Synopsis -

It's been three years since I have turned, and I am not sure who I am anymore. I don't even know if I want to be what I have become. Is love enough to keep me alive inside even if I am dead? How can I find peace within myself when everything around me screams war and death? How will things end when one man holds my eternal love and another wants me dead? There is no end as far as I can see. It’s just the beginning because I can feel the darkness approaching. It wants me. It calls for me by name. I will keep on fighting until it arrives. The problem is, if I don’t learn to shut off my emotions I may just become my own worst enemy. Is it all too much, or not enough? These are the things a vampire queen, new mother and woman fighting with her past human morals must ask herself. I have one more important question to answer that could change everything. IS THIS REALLY WHAT I WANT?

The red jeweled necklace the coven called The Eye of the Queen sat right at my cleavage. I ran one finger over my pale skin and red lips as I looked at my reflection in the mirror. Queen was my title, but I knew different. I was just a beautiful killer.  (Goodreads)

Review -

The Revelation is a truly apt name indeed for this installation of The Guardians.  Many things about the past are revealed from Caleb, Sasha, a not so dead Cain and more importantly, the real reason for the creation of the Dark Angels is revealed.  Readers who enjoyed book 1, you ain't seen nothin' yet, because this series' has turned out to be like a fine wine, it only gets better with time.

If you think being a mother is tough, try being a brand new vampire trying to raise two teenage vampires with the raging hormones of a human teen times ten who sped through diapers, terrible twos, adolescence and puberty all in the course of three years.  As if that isn't enough to deal with Gionna must also face threats both inside the walls of her own home when Caleb's ex-girlfriend decides to pop in and pay a visit, and the claws literally come out.  Gianna's plate quickly goes from full to overflowing when someone she loves sacrifices themself in an attempt to save her life.

Meanwhile it looks as though their mortal enemies are not as dead as they think, and he has been plotting all this time to get the vengeance he feels is rightfully his.  The torment he has planned just may be the final straw that rips apart her heart.  He has set several games to play with Gionna, all of which involve her coven, her family and her children.

This series' is a true must read for all vampire lovers, of the non-sensitive variety.  Be advised, this book cannot be read as a stand-alone.  Readers will be on the edge of there seats from one page to the next, and desperately awaiting Book 3, Blood Vengeance.

Legacy of Darkness Review

Legacy of Darkness by Jane Godman (ARC Review)
Published April 14, 2014
5 Dark Stars

"A deliciously dark tale that will definitely make you shiver and send more than a chill or two down your spine."

Synopsis -

1837 Cornwall, England

Orphaned, penniless and reduced to the role of lady's companion, Lucy Alleyne is relieved when a distant relation spirits her away to Castle Athal. But gratitude soon gives way to fear--and unlooked-for pleasure.

The ancient Cornish castle is a dark monument to family, fortune and blood. Within its walls, the Jago family keeps its wards close...and its secrets closer. Lucy is drawn to Tynan, Earl of Athal. The young heir is handsome and caring, yet tortured in his mind like his father before him. Tynan is utterly different from his uncle Uther--a commanding, seductive presence whose leonine power radiates from his every word and gesture.-

These two Jago men have innocent Lucy enthralled--mind, soul and body. But if she remains within the poisonous castle keep, with its history of ill-starred passion and madness, a mere broken heart will seem a mercy.  (Goodreads)

Review -

This is the first non-vampire novel that I have read in a very long time in which I can say I didn't even miss the fangs.  A tale that is truly dark and sinister that any fan of Gothic Romance would be sure to love, and crave for more.  Godman takes readers into a dark world in centuries past, where one families castle that has a history that may be as deadly as Count Vlad's, and even more sordid.

When Lucy is taken in by very distant relatives she at once feels like less than a squaller when she enters the beautiful and dark Gothic Manor, and takes in all the riches that belong to the family name.  But she soon learns that the grass isn't always greener.  For within the walls of the castle lie the secrets of long dead ancestors, one in particular that had no compunction in making a pact with the Devil.  And while people would have her to believe the sounds she's been hearing to be nothing more than that of the atmosphere that is making her imagination run wild, the truth is far more horrifying, and possibly deadly.  She will also learn every woman should, never trust a man willing to give you every pleasure imaginable, without expecting anything in return, even release.  Uther Jago is determined beyond reason to produce a Jago heir, and not just to keep the family name alive.

Walk into the halls of the Jago Castle where nothing and no-one is as they seem, not even relationships.  Where trusting your instincts may very well be the only thing that could keep you alive.   Where reincarnation has never been more deadly.
